With your session, downloads of your digital images are always included because the most important thing to me, is that you get your photos printed! However, I do offer printing services through the my professional labs. If you can print them wherever you would like, what are the advantages of printing through me?
Guarantee of Color Profile Accuracy
All printers are calibrated differently, and some significantly differently. Some increase saturation, shadows, and reds and greens. None of those things look good when overdone. When you print with me, my software is calibrated to the labs I am part of in order to guarantee that your photos look the way I intended them to when they were edited. I occasionally print things through pharmacy and big box labs too, but not anything that I intend to hang on my walls or keep for longer than a year. If you do decide to print on your own, a lab such as mpix.com does tend to be a better and more accurate calibration than big box stores or pharmacies.
Accurate Sizing and Composition
All photos that come out of the camera are a 2:3 ratio. This is perfect if you plan to print 4x6, 6x9, 8x12, 10x15, 12x18, 14x21, 16x24, 18x27, or 20x30 but more common sizes are 5x7, 8x10 ,11x14 or 16x20. When you change the ratio, some of your photo is cropped. When I deliver your photos, I don't crop them in order to make sure I leave as much information in the file as possible so that you can crop them for printing. Which means that they may not be in the most pleasing composition. Ideally, I would be able to choose the crop of the photo based upon knowing what size you plan to print in order to achieve the best composition of the photo. Additionally, some photos may already be cropped in camera and then would not print well in some sizes unless they are corrected. For example, this is the photo in my clients gallery
My client wanted to print this as an 11x14 canvas. If they would have printed it themselves it would have looked like this
But when they chose to print their canvas through me, I was able to recompose the image to make sure that it was perfect.
